The way White writes helps the meaning of the story because he uses words and phrases that children understand. The vocabulary is just right for a grade four or five reading level. I felt the main character's problem of being slaughtered was expressed very satisfactorily. Charlotte's plan to save Wilbur by weaving words in her web was a brainwave on the part of E.B. White. The ending with Charlotte dying and Wilbur being a foster parent to three of her children is logical. The print is the appropriate size for the four/five reading level. The illustrations really help the book because they were so interesting and so well drawn.
